Introduction

The seaside town of Bangladesh with more larg00a (120km) of uninterrupted beach in the world, gently sloping into the blue a1gua Bay of Bengal, Cox's Bazar is one of the most attractive tourist spots in the country. North of Bazar and Bandarban districts of Chittagong and Cox's Khagrachhari hills, east is Myanmar, west and south lies the Bay of Bengal.






Why Called Cox's  Bazaar

Old name was Bakoli Cox Bazaar, the name was the middle of the seventeenth PENGWA. The word means Rakhyne PENGWA yellow flower. Burmese King Monwaing attacked Cox's Bazaar in 1784. Thamada Arakanese king slain, and took control of the area. So the Arakan area left to search the Chittagong Hill Tracts and Patuakhali refuge. The government of the then East India Company, Captain Hiram Cox was appointed as the Superintendent and assigned the restoration of Arakanese refugees. Upon arrival in 1799, the Burmese king defeated in battle and rehabilitated the Arakanese refugees. After the war, a bazaar (market) in that place called Cox Bazaar after it was founded.




 Guide Line How To Reach


154 km from Chittagong, Cox's Bazar is connected by a road well built. There are ways around Bazar Dhaka-Chittagong-Cox Biman (Bangladesh Airlines) Flight 3 days a week and flights private airlines and airlines flying from GMG and United Airways and Cox's Bazaar operate. Cox's Bazar Chittagong is through a romantic journey.

Inani

Lovesome patches of beaches perched between the sea and the hills behind, to the south along the coast in Cox's Bazar about 30 kilometers, Inani is a peaceful tourist haven situated in the lush nature. Accessible by public transport services between Cox's Bazar-Teknaf and four-wheel drive jeeps along the beach.


Himchhari


 A beauty in the solitude of the sea and the hills. About four and a half miles southeast of Cox's Bazar along the beach. A four-wheel drive beach at low tide hours or part of the way by donkey or elephant and the rest on foot would be a grateful memory. 





Moheshkhali

An island in the bay west the.north off Cox's Bazar. The island is dotted here and there with wooded hills with ancient Adinath Temple and a Buddhist Vihara in the middle of it, fishing villages and towns Rakhyne etc are the main attractions of the island. Motor boats and trawlers were between the island and the mainland Cox Bazar every hour during the day.
Boats and trawlers to the other side of the regular passengers. Boats take 10-15 minutes and trawlers half hours.


Teknaf

 Teknaf, a romantic old world frontier town at the southern tip of Bangladesh territory looking for the Myanmar high hill runs across the river Naf. Teknaf is 85 km from Cox's Bazar road and 120 km along the beach to the sea. It can be reached by public transport Cox's Bazar every hour. Trip is about 2 hours each way.
