Bangladesh Kushtia Lalon Shah Mazar

Lalon Shah (1774-1890) Baul guru , and the singer and composer of Baul song. According to tradition, was born in a Kayastha family in the village of Bhandara in Kushtia . As a child Lalon caught smallpox and was left in critical condition . Siraj Sain , a Muslim fakir , took the child and nursed him back to health . Lalon was later installed as Baul fakir . He created a akhda in Chheuriya , where he lived with his wife and some disciples .Lalon was a humanist who completely rejected all distinctions of caste and creed . It was also a great poet and lyricist whose songs are sung not only by his followers , but also by the absence of the hull . In 1963 , a mausoleum and a research center were built in the place of his akhda . Thousands of Bauls meet twice a year , Dol - akhda Purnima , in the month of Falgun (February - March) and in October , on the occasion of his death . Paid during this three-day song melas Bauls rich tribute to their spiritual leader.Lalon Shah left no written copies of their songs , which were passed down orally by his followers and later transcribed . Kangal Harinath Majumdar (1833-1896) was the direct disciple . Rabindranath Tagore was also inspired by his songs and some of them published in the monthly prabasi Kolkata . Chheuriya Lalon died , at the age of 116 on October 17, 1890 .
